Tarzan Film Analysis...

Ordinary world: Tarzan lost his family as a baby and was found by a gorilla, Kala. She had just lost her baby to Sabor, the only leopard on the island, just a few days ago. She heard Tarzan crying and she came running to his aide. Sabor and her fought but Kala and Tarzan got away.

Call to adventure: To raise Tarzan as her own.

Refusal of the call: When she showed back up to the clan and showed them Tarzan, Kerchak (the gorilla leader) refused him saying,"Kala, he's not our kind, you can't keep it." She persisted and finally he let her keep him but made it clear that "he would let him stay, but it doesn't make him his son."
Meeting with the mentor: Tarzan grows up and starts to hang around Terk. Terk sort of mentors him on how to get Kerchek to like him. Tells him, "if you want Kerchek to like you, than stay away from him." Tarzan tries to take his advice only to keep causing problems and chaos for Kerchek.

Crossing the threshold: One day Tarzan and Terk were wrestling when they came across Sabor. Kerchek jumps in and starts to protect the clan as leader. Sabor drops him. Tarzan comes in and saves Kerchek and also in the end kills Sabor. He hopes that it will finally be the thing that kerchek accepts him for and will like him.

Tests, Allies, Enemies: Before he really finds out if he has been accepted or not there is a gunshot that startles them all and Kerchek tells them to keep moving. Tarzan is curious and goes back to find out what it was. He is very interested in the strangers that are there so he continues to follow them. He meets Jane and saves her life. She thinks he is a villager or something but soon learns that he has been raised by gorillas which is why they came to the island was to research the gorillas. Soon she starts teaching Tarzan and helping him learn and grow. Kerchek has forbid him to go back though because he feels it is a danger to the clan.

Approach: He has fallen in love with Jane and is feeling torn because he doesn't want to go against his family but wants to follow his heart.

Ordeal: He has been asked to show Jane and them the gorillas which Kerchek told him not to, but he is faced with the decision of them come and she stays longer if they see them, or they just go the next day. Tarzan decides to show them but it only leads to Clayton, the bad guy who wants to cage the gorillas and sell them, going to the spot he showed them to, "catch the beasts." Everything falls apart, Tarzan goes aboard to go with them back to England only to be trapped along with Jane and the others. He ends up getting rescued by Terk and Tantor which he then goes back to save his family. Clayton and him fight but Clayton is bloodthirsty and shoots Kerchek. Tarzan keeps fighting with him and Clayton ends up getting hung on accident and dies. Kerchek also dies but has accepted Tarzan into the family.

Reward: He found his rightful place and decides to stay and lead the gorillas, his family.

The Road Back: He has started his journey back to the way things were and is now the leader. He plans on being a just and good leader like unto Kerchek. He is saddened that Jane is leaving and that he may never see her again but he has accepted it and will never forget her or what happened.

Resurrection: In a way I guess the resurrection could be that after everything that has happened and him moving on and thinking he had lost Jane (in a way the love that Jane and Tarzan had would be dead when she left), that when she decides to stay and be with him it was resurrected and made stronger.

Return with Elixir: They now are together and she has her father along with her as well and they are leading the clan and life doesn't seem like it could get any better! Everything has come together in the end and made quite the happy ending.
